How to help pupils and students manage and control their anger and realise their full potential.

There are many personal issues that can hinder the ability of pupils and students to make the most of the educational opportunities that are available to them at their school.

Among these, very obviously, is anger, for the pupil or student who is angry simply cannot learn in the classroom. Worse, such anger will frighten some and distract others in the classroom.

Of course, anger is a natural feeling, and it is not the feeling of anger that is a problem. It is the anger inside a person that cannot be controlled, and which on occasion erupts for no clear reason, that needs to be managed.

And there is a significant problem here, for once anger has taken hold it can be very hard to deal with – it is a feeling that can rise up very quickly but take a long time to dissipate. Worse, anger expressed by one pupil or student will disrupt the work of all the others in the class.

Indeed part of the problem is that many young people who experience and express significant levels of anger don’t fully understand where the anger is coming from. As a result, simple attempts to question the individual about the anger can lead to more anger, rather than dissipation of the emotion.

Support and Funding

Fortunately, there are ways in which pupils and students who suffer from seemingly uncontrollable anger can be helped. Even better, there is funding available to help in work of this nature.

Indeed NLP4Kids has worked with over 100 UK schools to enable them to improve the lives of many children and families.

This includes 2 hours of fully funded practitioner support to every school that needs it with 30 days of access to an online platform of resources for a designated staff member.
