Journal of Practice Teaching & Learning
The Journal of Practice Teaching and Learning* covers all aspects of practice teaching ('field education') in workplace settings in health and social work. It also considers the policy context, and the changing expectations of service users, Government and the public. Material is practically relevant to what trainers, managers and workers actually do in health, social work and social care. A main theme is the effectiveness of training and education as preparation for work in these fields.

Call for abstracts: Empowering Global Futures: Strategies for School Social Work, Anglia Ruskin University 9-10th September 2024 This event is organised by SWISIC (Social Work in Schools International Collaboration). The organisers seek abstracts (no more than 300 words) for papers, workshop and poster presentations. Theoretical considerations, case studies and research reports are welcome from any country in the world. The deadline for submission of abstracts in 31st May 2024. Abstracts should be emailed to Maria Kjellgren of Umeå University Sweden (maria.kjellgren@umu.se). Whiting & Birch are supporting this event. Seminar on Practice Teaching in Ireland, 14th December 2023 This seminar looked the lessons from work reported in two special Issues of the Journal on 'Practice Learning across Ireland' – the largest special we have ever published. The four keynote presentations from the seminar are now available below. Free webinars on Writing for Publication for the Journal of Practice Teaching in Health and Social Work The latest webinar in this series took place 25th May 2023, led by Professor Jo Finch. At these events we offer practical guidance to those new to writing or reviewing, but also hope that more seasoned authors will find the seminars helpful.
